In the wake of the outage, users reported that they were unable to log into their accounts. They lost followers, and some were not able to view their content. But some users did recover their accounts. Users also reported experiencing problems logging in, and some even experienced difficulties appealing Instagram's decision.
Instagram has fixed the problem. The outage was caused by a software bug, which prevented the service from functioning properly for eight hours. Although not all users were affected, some reported being unable to view their feed or check their DMs. Some users have reported being suspended due to breaking community guidelines.
Many users have taken to Twitter to report the outage, with many reporting that their Instagram accounts aren't working. The site's downdetector page has spiked with reports of outages. Users are unable to log in, and receive messages saying their accounts have been suspended. In addition, many users are unable to access their Instagram feed or filters.
The outage appeared to be widespread across many regions, with users forced to wait for hours before they could reconnect to their accounts. Fortunately, the outages were resolved, and services were restored in the afternoon. But Facebook hasn't released a definitive explanation for the outage.
